The first sale of the summer transfer window has already been confirmed, with director of football Jason Wilcox set for a busy few months.
Manchester United’s summer transfer window will be decisive in how the 2026/27 season turns out. It could be the difference between fighting for a European spot once again and being in the mix to compete for the Premier League title.
Despite having been in the job for a matter of weeks, Michael Carrick has already turned around the Red Devils. Under Rúben Amorim’s guidance, most fans felt that the club would do well to finish within the Europa League spots, while some are talking about a title race with Carrick at the helm.
They, unfortunately, are getting carried away, but the signs are there.
Despite the good form, Carrick looks likely to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season. The performances and results against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City will have strengthened his case to stay at the club, but a decision won’t have been made just yet.
Chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox will be searching for the new head coach already, but it seems they have also been working on first-team outgoings, with the first transfer of the summer already agreed.
Bayindir agrees summer move
Altay Bayindir looks set to leave Manchester United in the summer as he has reportedly agreed a deal to sign for Besiktas for just under £5 million, as reported by Fanatik.
Bayindir came close to leaving Old Trafford in the January transfer window, having reached an agreement with Besiktas on personal terms, but Rúben Amorim’s departure made the sale impossible.
When the Portuguese head coach was sacked, United blocked moves for Bayindir, Kobbie Mainoo, Tyrell Malacia and Joshua Zirkzee – citing the managerial change as the justification.
With Andre Onana moving on loan, Bayindir started the season as United’s first-choice goalkeeper and kept the position until mid-October when Senne Lammens made his long-awaited debut against Sunderland.
Since then, Lammens has impressed many with his calm and composed nature, not to mention his brilliant performances in between the sticks. UtdDistrict recently described him as “exactly what United need.”

Bayindir could pave the way for Vitek
Radek Vitek was loaned out to Bristol City at the start of the season, with some seeing it as a poor move as they already had a more than established goalkeeper. That has not bothered Vitek, though.
Despite having a period on the sidelines, Vitek has made 29 Championship appearances this season, keeping nine clean sheets with his side currently sitting eighth in England’s second tier.

Bayindir’s departure could see Vitek return to Old Trafford next season as the second-choice goalkeeper behind Lammens. If United qualify for Europe, Vitek could even feature in some league stage matches.
The 22-year-old will be hungry to replace Lammens as the starter – a dynamic that is becoming more common in recent years, with many suggesting that having more than one good goalkeeper can push them to play better, as it would with an outfielder.
