Manchester United have reportedly offered Amadou Onana a considerable contract as the up-front bid for his potential transfer from Everton this summer is revealed.

Manchester United are aiming to strengthen their midfield by signing a defensive midfielder this summer after a challenging season under Erik ten Hag, which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League and exit the Champions League by Christmas.

The team struggled with defensive stability, often altering its midfield lineup due to injuries. This resulted in inconsistent performances across 52 matches in the 2023/24 season. Expected regulars such as Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat have not been able to produce the desired performances.

INEOS are currently assessing potential signings for the 2024 summer transfer window, with a strong emphasis on securing a key defensive midfielder to solidify the squad, with Everton’s Amadou Onana having been touted as an option.

As per Mundo Deportivo, United have submitted a bid to Everton of around £46 million, with an additional £4.6 million in add-ons.

Further, United have offered a “considerable” salary to the 22-year-old Belgian international, who is currently competing in the 2024 European Championships.

A Spanish outlet is commenting on this deal because, according to their information, Barcelona have identified him as their “plan A” signing for midfield, but financial difficulties at Camp Nou have made a deal extremely difficult.

Barcelona chiefs believe that Onana’s physical and technical traits, widely admired across Europe, would “greatly increase the team’s desired balance” for Hansi Flick’s new team.

However, United are seen as front runners for now, but will likely have to offload Casemiro before a deal with Everton can be struck.
