Manchester United identify two Euro 2024 stars as replacements for aging duo
Manchester United have identifed two Euro 2024 stars as potential replacements for the ageing duo in the club’s midfield ranks.
According to Caught Offside, United have identified two priority midfield signings as Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich and Juventus‘ Adrien Rabiot.
Both players are currently competing at Euro 2024 for Germany and France, respectively, and it is claimed that United are planning to replace Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, who both have a ‘concrete chance’ of leaving the club this summer.
The report went on to explain that Rabiot’s future at Juventus is uncertain, and Erik ten Hag would like the club to make the Frenchman a priority as a midfield addition.
Kimmich is also appreciated by those at Old Trafford and could be targeted if Rabiot is not available this summer. The Bayern Munich midfielder has a year left on his current deal and is not close to signing a renewal.
United have previously been linked with Rabiot and it appears that reports will continue throughout this summer window.
Joao Neves of Benfica and Sporting’s Morten Hjulmand have both also been touted as potential options to strengthen the midfield at Old Trafford, but they would both be expected to demand a higher fee.
United are going to be stretched thin this transfer window, and so need sales to support their efforts to buy players. Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho are both expected to leave.
They also have their initial targets as centre-back and striker, before they move on to try and improve positions such as central midfield.
