Manchester United are reportedly considering re-signing one of their academy talents following his fantastic performances in Portugal.
Manchester United sold over £100 million worth of players last season as part of a big clearout of Erik ten Hag‘s squad.
Mason Greenwood, Scott McTominay, Jadon Sancho, Willy Kambwala, and others all left for significant transfer fees as the new INEOS leadership group sought to raise as many funds as possible for reinvestment purposes.

However, one sale that went somewhat under the radar was that of Álvaro Fernández Carreras, who departed for Benfica on a permanent transfer.
Carreras arrived at the club around the same time as Alejandro Garnacho but failed to make the same impact as the young Argentinian winger and was allowed to leave on loan to Benfica in January 2024.
After a poor start, it was expected that the Spanish left-back would return to Carrington, but in a significant twist, Benfica exercised their buy-option of around £5 million and kept Carreras.
Since then, he has cemented a significant role in the side, playing nine games so far, seven of those in the starting XI. This has caught the interest of his former club and the La Liga giants.
According to O Jogo, United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona have all sent scouts to take a closer look at him since his upturn in form, and United have an edge over both Spanish clubs.
The report states that United have a buyback clause that they can activate to beat Madrid and Barcelona to the signing of the 21-year-old, although it is not said how much this buyback is worth.
