Manchester United expecting four stars to rejoin squad as Noussair Mazraoui ‘undergoes operation’

Manchester United are waiting on four stars to rejoin Erik ten Hag’s squad as Noussair Mazraoui may be ruled out for eight weeks.

Manchester United‘s season so far has not been up to the standards that the club’s fans have demanded following a summer of high-level spending.

The club added five new members to Erik ten Hag‘s squad: Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui. They all joined the Carrington training base before making their respective debuts.

However, one of these players, 18-year-old starlet Yoro, has yet to make his official debut for the club after he was injured against Arsenal in pre-season.

The young centre-back has been on the road to recovery ever since. He recently updated fans with a video showing him running on a treadmill again. Reports suggest that he aims for a return at the beginning of December.

Similarly, this timeframe applies to Tyrell Malacia. The Dutch left-back has not played football in almost a year and a half, having undergone multiple knee operations, but has returned to squad training as he slowly builds fitness.

“Over a season now from an injury to return, but he’s working very hard, he’s progressing really well in this moment,” Ten Hag told the press last month surrounding Malacia’s return.

“He’s making big steps, so we think, at short notice, we can expect him in the team training, and he is a talent, it’s natural.”

While both players mentioned above are not likely to play before the next international break in November, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount are set to return in the coming weeks.

Mount’s last appearance was against Tottenham when he was forced off due to an unfortunate head injury, and it was later revealed that he simultaneously took a second knock that ruled him out of games against FC Porto and Aston Villa.

However, Mount’s issue is not considered serious, and he is expected to return once domestic football resumes.

Shaw is set to return in the coming weeks after he was ruled out during pre-season with a calf injury sustained in training. Ten Hag confirmed two weeks ago that Shaw will return after the break, but the upcoming Brentford tie may be too soon.

Finally, according to the Daily Mail, Mazraoui has had a minor corrective procedure after suffering from heart palpitations.

It was a precautionary procedure for a relatively common condition and is said to have been a success. The Moroccan international will be available again in the next few weeks.

Although United are not putting an exact timeframe on his recovery, he is not expected to be out for as long as the two months previously speculated.
