Manchester United man tells reporters he’s ‘leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season’
Christian Eriksen has reportedly informed reporters in Denmark that he is set to leave Manchester United at the end of the coming season.
Christian Eriksen‘s time at Manchester United has been marked by solid performances but hampered by injuries, resulting in a reduced role under Erik ten Hag at the start of this campaign.
In his first six months, Eriksen was part of a strong midfield trio alongside Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro. However, a serious injury in January 2023 kept him out for several months, and he hasn’t fully regained his starting spot since.

The rise of Kobbie Mainoo last season has seen Eriksen slip down the club’s midfield options, and there were rumours linking him with a loan move to Ajax this summer. Despite Denmark’s struggles at the 2024 European Championships, where they didn’t win a match, Eriksen showed he still has plenty to offer as a creative midfielder.
Eriksen was not afforded a start in any of the club’s first three games of the season but started in midfield during an away win over Southampton and has been selected in the XI for six of the club’s past seven games.
In that time, he scored three goals and provided three assists, and he usurped Casemiro in the team at a time when the creative players on the side were inconsistent. However, Eriksen’s contract expires in the summer, and according to reports, he is set to depart Old Trafford.
This is the information being relayed by Sport Witness, who claim that Eriksen has informed the Danish press that he will leave as the two parties involved are not discussing extending his contract beyond 2025.
Eriksen was asked if he thinks leaving United will affect his chances of playing with the Danish national side, and he admitted that this will be part of his consideration when he chooses who to sign for next.
“It does,” he said. “It will be a bit of a balancing act. I’m not getting any younger either, so those considerations are going to be part of an overall decision about where you stand in your career, where you’re going, where the national team is and all that sort of thing.”
He continued: “I have never given it a thought because I have played in Tottenham and Inter.
“When I came to Brentford, of course, I had to prove that I could play football again, but I had shown my name, and then I came to United after.”
