Manchester United are set to lose out on two of their rumoured transfer targets, with Real Madrid favourites to sign young centre-back Leny Yoro this summer.

Manchester United are targeting a new centre-back this summer, with the futures of Raphaël Varane, Harry Maguire, and Jonny Evans all unclear as INEOS head into their first summer window in control of the sporting decisions at Old Trafford.

While Erik ten Hag comfortably has Lisandro Martínez as his No. 1 choice for the position, who partners with the Argentinan international beyond this summer is up for debate.

Earlier this year, United were linked a number of times with Leny Yoro, although Fabrizio Romano has now explained that the 18-year-old Lille central defender is now odds on to sign for Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are now leading the race to sign Yoro in the next transfer window, with Madrid classed as “favourites” to secure the 18-year-old’s services.

Aside from Yoro, there were also some intense links with Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, but they now face competition.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, there are multiple Premier League clubs who are willing to pay at least £52 million for the player, which may price United out of any move for the French international this summer.

United are operating on a potentially slim budget this summer after high levels of spending in the last few seasons have restricted their ability to splash the cash.

Nice’s high demands for Todibo are due to the fact that Barcelona have a 25% sell-on clause with regards to the player.

With these two players likely unavailable this summer, United will turn their attention to Jarrad Branthwaite and Gleison Bremer.
