Bayern Munich fans fume as they are linked with Man United INEOS target

| Last Updated:

Bayern Munich fans have made their frustrations known as they become linked with Manchester United managerial target Roberto de Zerbi.

Erik ten Hag‘s future at Manchester United is still undecided. Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s INEOS team is still debating whether to continue the Dutchman’s contract this summer or gamble with a new manager.

There have been reports that INEOS have now identified a shortlist of nine potential managers who could take over from Ten Hag this summer, with Brighton’s Roberto de Zerbi being high on the list.

However, Wednesday morning brings news that De Zerbi is now a “top candidate” for FC Bayern in case Xabi Alonso decides to stay at Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

This is according to German transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claims that De Zerbi is aware of Bayern’s interest but is currently fully focused on the end of the season with Brighton.

Plettenberg further explains that this is the reason why De Zerbi is not in negotiations with Bayern or any other club, also mentioning Barcelona.

Despite the journalist explaining that Alonso remains Bayern’s “plan A,” fans of the Bavarian club were quick to express their distaste for the thought of De Zerbi managing Bayern Munich.

“A manager that said he doesn’t care about winning?” One fan fumed, while another explained that “this club is washed” in reference to Munich.

Thirdly, another fan put up a poll asking other Bayern Munich fans if they would “be cool” with De Zerbi managing the club, to which, at the time of writing, the response was overall negative.
