Manchester United have reportedly held talks with Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna’s agent as Erik ten Hag’s job remains under threat.

Erik ten Hag‘s future as manager of Manchester United is under great scrutiny after poor results all season have left the club in a bind.

While multiple reliable reports have explained that no immediate decision has been made and that the Dutchman will remain in charge for the final three games of the campaign, there is no guarantee that he will continue beyond this summer.

Many names have been linked to the United job in the last four months, with those such as Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, and Graham Potter surfacing repeatedly, but it has been stressed many times that no final decision has been settled.

However, a new report has now claimed that INEOS are also considering a surprise option that Ole Gunnar Solskjær would welcome.

McKenna’s the name

Former Manchester United U18s manager and first-team assistant coach Kieran McKenna, who was prominent around Carrington during Solskjær’s time as the club’s manager, has done a fantastic job handing Ipswich Town back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.

And now, according to footmercato, he is very much on the radar of INEOS and Manchester United.

The report claims that “concrete contacts have already taken place” between KcKenna’s agent and the club’s leaders, with his profile “appealing” to those in charge at Old Trafford.

McKenna is said to be very much drawn to the idea of returning to Old Trafford. He also holds a big advantage in that he would be ready to start work at the club immediately, whereas other candidates, such as Southgate, would not be available until after the European Championships.
