One Manchester United star is reportedly confident he will remain at Old Trafford beyond this summer despite being deemed a sellable asset by the club.

Manchester United are gearing up for a major summer overhaul as they look to raise funds for Rúben Amorim’s rebuild by offloading several first-team players.

With the Portuguese coach set to introduce a demanding tactical system, the club is expected to make sweeping changes to the squad, moving on those who do not fit his approach.

A busy transfer window lies ahead, with multiple departures anticipated. Victor Lindelöf and Christian Eriksen are among those set to leave once their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, United intend to cash in on loanees Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia, as none are believed to be in Amorim’s long-term plans. The clear-out is also expected to include experienced figures like Casemiro, as United seek to reshape the squad with players more suited to Amorim’s philosophy.

With an emphasis on maximising transfer revenue and reinvesting strategically, the club is preparing for one of its most significant squad overhauls in years.

Only two United players considered untouchable

Amid the mass exodus that United are expected to undergo in the coming summer, the club only see two players as untouchable.

According to reports from May 2024, United had a list of four players they considered as completely unavailable for transfer, with Rasmus Højlund, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and André Onana seen as future rocks at the club.

However, once the new season was underway, this stance changed amid the club’s continuing financial issues, with only new signing Leny Yoro and star forward Amad considered as off the market.

Mainoo and Garnacho’s respective futures continue to be pondered due to their high values, while Onana and Højlund have worried fans with bouts of poor form and key mistakes.

Onana relaxed about his future

Despite Onana being removed from the club’s “untouchables” list, the Cameroon international remains relaxed about his future at United.

Amorim is said to want to sign at least one new goalkeeper this summer, but according to iSport, Onana is “confident” he will continue at United once the 2025/26 season commences.

Onana is reportedly not concerned about speculation that he may be replaced this summer, as he feels he continues to hold the backing of head coach Amorim.

The 28-year-old is claimed to hold a good relationship with his boss and remains entirely focused on helping United out of their current rut and achieve success both at the end of his campaign and going forward.
