Man United receive transfer boost – Outcast now “top target” for Saudi Pro League after failed move
One Manchester United outcast is now reportedly a “top target” for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, and it could be a big transfer boost for the Reds.
The Reds are in desperate need of sales in the coming weeks as the new Premier League campaign approaches.
Several players who seemed likely to exit this summer – such as Casemiro and Christian Eriksen – are still at the club but Antony could be a player to leave this summer.
According to Football Insider, the Brazilian has now emerged as a top target for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
It is claimed that the Saudi outfit have switched their attention to Antony after failing to agree on a deal for Barcelona winger Raphinha.
Antony has struggled since joining United in the summer of 2022 and the Reds are now willing to sell the winger, or even loan him out if someone would cover his wages.
Al Nassr have registered their interest in the player, and negotiations could be forthcoming.
It was added that United are expecting to make a loss on any sale for the 24-year-old after signing him for £85 million from Ajax.
Prior reports have suggested that United would be willing to sell the player for around £25-30 million.
A potential sale for the wide player could be important in finalising deals elsewhere. United have signed two players so far this summer but now need to sell in order to buy.
Another centre-back and central midfielder is needed, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s likely sale would make room for the signing of right-back Noussair Mazraoui.
United are currently comfortable on that right wing. Amad Diallo has emerged as a first-choice option, while Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho can also operate from that flank.
Should United be able to sell Antony, who is unlikely to get much game-time in the upcoming season anyway, they could reinvest the money into more pressing priorities.
