One Manchester United target has already addressed speculation surrounding his name ahead of the summer transfer window.
United ended the 2023/24 campaign strongly after winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
However, their underwhelming eighth-place Premier League finish paints a better picture of how the season went for Erik ten Hag’s men.
INEOS will be preparing for a busy transfer window with incomings and outgoings expected. They seem to have already started testing the waters to boost their midfield depth.
Portuguese outlet Record reports that United has submitted a bid of approximately £51 million for Benfica’s 19-year-old sensation Joao Neves.
However, Benfica has reportedly rejected the bid and are unwilling to consider any offer below £85.38 million.
It was added that they would ideally want to sell the player for his release clause, valued at £102.46 million, but it appears that an offer at around £85 million could secure the teenager’s services.
The supremely talented teenager has been praised by United captain Bruno Fernandes beforehand and has already admitted that he cannot promise to stay at Benfica for another season.
Speaking in February this year, as per MEN, Neves said: “Staying at Benfica next year? I can’t promise anything for next season.
“My wish at the moment is to stay at Benfica and then we will see, you never know.”
The 19-year-old played 55 games last season and has made five appearances for Portugal’s senior team.
