Man United star criticised for “crazy” mistake this summer, it is Erik ten Hag’s “main issue”
One Manchester United star has been criticised for a “crazy” mistake this summer and it is one of Erik ten Hag’s biggest issues so far this season.
United return to Premier League action against Crystal Palace this weekend with renewed confidence after convincing wins—3-0 against Southampton and 7-0 over Barnsley.
Erik ten Hag will be eager to see his team maintain this momentum as they face a challenging run of fixtures, including matches against Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa, as well as Europa League ties against FC Twente and FC Porto over the next three weeks.
This follows on from a mixed start to the League campaign with two wins out of their opening four games.
There have been positives and negatives to take from Ten Hag’s side’s start to the season but one has been highlighted by ex-Red Paul Parker.
Parker on left-back issues and Shaw playing at Euros
Parker spoke to bettingexpert.com this week about his former club and believes that while there have been positives, one issue in the defensive line is the lack of a left-footed left-back.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both injured and despite Diogo Dalot playing well on the left side, Parker suggests that the left-winger will benefit once a left-footer plays behind them.
Finally, the former United defender has questioned Shaw’s decision to play for England at Euro 2024 this summer. He suffered an injury shortly after returning to United for pre-season.
“The main issue with the defence right now is they don’t have a left-footed left-back because of Shaw’s injuries,” said Parker.
“Dalot has done a great job but you do need that outlet. It’s a problem. That wide left player who is Rashford right now would benefit from having a left-footed left back.
“It’ll be interesting to see how Shaw fits in when he comes back. There’s no time to wait. It’s crazy that Luke Shaw went to the Euro’s when he shouldn’t have.”
