Manchester United’s new fan favourite receives incredible praise, “best since Sir Alex Ferguson”
Manchester United’s new fan favourite has received incredible praise from an ex-United defender who says he’s one of the best in his role since Sir Alex Ferguson was manager.
The Reds head into their next Premier League match with confidence, following back-to-back wins—a 3-0 triumph over Southampton and a 7-0 thrashing of Barnsley.
Erik ten Hag will be keen for his side to maintain their form as they enter a challenging period of fixtures.
These include games against Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa, along with Europa League clashes against FC Twente and FC Porto in the next three weeks.
United have had several players impress so far this term and one has received huge praise from a former player in his position.
Parker lauds Mazraoui’s impact
Former United right-back Paul Parker has offered huge praise to new signing Noussair Mazraoui this week.
Parker believes that the Moroccan is one of the best in the position United have had since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
He also suggests that his limited role at Bayern Munich beforehand was partly due to the ‘political’ nature of the Bundesliga club.
“Mazraoui has come in and pundits questioned him because he couldn’t get in the Bayern Munich team,” Parker told bettingexpert.com.
“There’s so much politics in football now, and managers don’t have the say they used to because of the way contracts are written, so when a player isn’t playing, you can’t always judge them.
“Kimmich was playing in front of him, but that was quite tactical. Bayern are one of the most political clubs with the old boys that sit and watch the club play and be heavily involved in the club.
“But everyone at United has latched onto Mazraoui, and for £13m, they have 100% improved at right back. He’s not as good in terms of 1 vs 1 defending but as a right back he’s got everything you want in today’s game.
“He’s one of the best right backs United have had since Sir Alex Ferguson’s day based on these early games. He’s put some solid footings and has made the right back position his own.
“Dalot is going to have to work to get game time if Luke Shaw comes back fit. I think Mazraoui has got more about him. I hope de Ligt can follow and play games consistently.”
Mazraoui quickly becoming fan favourite
We have only had a handful of games so far this term but Mazraoui has quickly impressed supporters with his time on the pitch.
He does his business quietly but effectively, doing the things on the pitch that are often underappreciated.
He already seems to be beginning to become a fan favourite, and the defender looks like he has more to offer.
