The upcoming quarter-final match against Liverpool presents a crucial opportunity for either team to advance to the Wembley semi-finals in late April.
Erik ten Hag explained on Friday afternoon that United will have four players available to return on Sunday.
“We had a good week,” he told reporters on Friday. “The players you mention (Højlund, Maguire, and Wan-Bissaka) returned on the pitch, partly at the start of the week, and today they had a session and are all training.
“I think [they will be fit to play]. Tomorrow we have one session. We have to see how they recover from this, but it looks good.”
He also added that Tom Heaton will be available to play, which is significant as normal no. 2 Altay Bayındır has suffered an injury problem and will not be fit in time to be in the squad for the fixture.
“Tom Heaton is back as well, also very good,” Ten Hag said. He also explained that Mason Mount had been training all week and had been involved in some “full sessions”. The midfielder is expected to be included in the squad.
On Saturday evening, Casemiro pulled out of the upcoming Brazil squad through injury, putting doubt over his availability for this tie.
Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Anthony Martial remain sidelined, but Lisandro Martínez is expected back after the international break.
For Liverpool, Jugen Klopp confirmed that Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Diogo Jota will not be fit to play. Ibrahim Konate is facing a race against time that he will “probably lose”, while Stefan Bajčetić’s fitness is currently unclear.
