Man United could receive large transfer boost as Barcelona among clubs to scout player

Manchester United could receive a large transfer boost next summer as Barcelona are among a group of clubs to be scouting one player.

In the summer transfer window, United were successful in bringing in players and selling unwanted talent.

Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Manuel Ugarte were signed to the club to boost Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Meanwhile, essential sales were made, such as Mason Greenwood and Scott McTominay, as well as Jadon Sancho’s loan to Chelsea, with an obligation to buy the player next summer.

Greenwood’s exit seemed a priority for the club after his loan spell at Getafe last summer. United could not get the initial £40 million they were hoping for but managed to secure favourable clauses in the deal with Marseille.

Barcelona among clubs to scout Greenwood

According to a new report from TalkSPORT, former United striker Greenwood is attracting interest from clubs, including Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The report also explained that all three of those European giants have sent out scouts to watch Greenwood in action for Marseille.

The 22-year-old has started well at the French club, scoring five goals and registering one assist in his first four Ligue 1 games.

Should his form continue throughout the season, Marseille would likely demand a hefty fee from the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

This could help United and INEOS in their second summer transfer window at Old Trafford since a hefty sell-on clause was placed in Greenwood’s deal with the French club.

The Reds will be aiming to improve several areas of the squad next year and will likely be in a stronger financial positon than they were in the summer just gone.
