Manchester United keeping tabs on £30m starlet who could solve Erik ten Hag problem, he already rejected Chelsea move
Manchester United are keeping tabs on a £30 million-rated starlet ahead of the upcoming transfer windows and he could solve a big problem Erik ten Hag has.
The Reds completed the signings of Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, and Manuel Ugarte in the summer transfer window.
Those additions have bolstered Erik ten Hag’s squad, while some essential sales have also been made, such as Scott McTominay to Napoli and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham.
However, as always, clubs are beginning to think ahead to next January and the following summer transfer window to identify potential targets and deals.
According to a new report from HITC, the Reds are keeping tabs on 19-year-old left-back Patrick Dorgu.
It has been explained by Fabrizio Romano that the teenager has been valued at around £30 million by his parent club Lecce.
United have had huge issues in the position recently, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both injured for most of last year.
The aforementioned report also mentioned some tough competition for the player’s signature, with Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich also eyeing the talented defender.
While the Reds also have Harry Amass on the verge of the first-team, this signing would fit Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s preference for young and exciting signings.
Dorgu made his debut for Denmark last week and managed to score off the bench in a dream debut scenario.
“It’s a super nice feeling. It couldn’t be much better,” Dorgu told TV 2 Sport after the game.
“It was better than I expected. “I didn’t expect to score, so it was nice. I don’t think I’m going to forget the match any time soon!”
Despite previously admitting that Chelsea was his ‘dream’ club, Dorgu rejected a switch to Stamford Bridge in the summer as he did not want to be loaned out to Chelsea’s French-based sister club Strasbourg.
United could plan to make a move for the young star in the upcoming transfer windows, with the left-back situation at Old Trafford still causing problems.
