“What a player” – Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martínez praise Man United teammate after Brighton win
Manchester United defenders Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martínez have praised one of their teammates after the club’s 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.
United wrapped up their 2023/24 Premier League campaign with a 2-0 win against Brighton at the Amex Stadium.
Second-half goals from Diogo Dalot and Rasmus Højlund ensured a positive end to the league season for Erik ten Hag’s team.
Despite the victory, other results meant that United finished eighth in the league, their lowest position in Premier League history. David Moyes’ side finished seventh in 2013/14.
Looking ahead, United will travel to Wembley next weekend for the FA Cup final, where they will face Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s men secured their fourth consecutive league title, and Ten Hag’s team will be looking to upset their celebrations on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds will be heading into the final with consecutive wins, which is a positive considering their dreadful form beforehand.
One player who has remained consistent despite the difficulties this term is Diogo Dalot. The full-back has missed just two games this term during an injury-filled campaign for many of his teammates.
Dalot scored his second goal of the season against Brighton and will be hoping to make an impact against City in the final game of the campaign.
Both Lisandro Martínez and Luke Shaw have experienced major injuries that have interrupted their seasons. Martínez is back in action and will be expecting to start against City, while Shaw faces a race against time to be fit for the game.
Yet, both players were clearly in agreement when praising Dalot after his latest performance on the pitch. On Instagram, the fullback posted: “Best way to push us to next weekend at Wembley. Always special to score for this club.”
In the comments, Martínez replied, “Toppppp,” while Shaw wrote: “What a player,” with a clapping emoji.
Antony was another player in the responses, with the Brazilian claiming that Dalot had been the club’s Player of the Season.
Dalot joined United in the summer of 2018 and has now made 156 games for the Old Trafford club.
