Ballon D’or winner Benzema has been strongly linked with a move away from Al-Ittihad, and reports surrounding a potential move to Manchester United have been mixed.

Just seven months after joining in the summer transfer windows, Benzema is reportedly looking to leave the Saudi League after a fallout with his Al-Ittihad manager.

However, as reported in The Mirror the 36-year-old has spoken to French newspaper L’Equipe to deny the rumours.

The Frenchman said: “It’s completely false! The French media don’t know what to invent any more. The bigger the better.”

This comes after Spanish newspaper Marca claimed that Manchester United, along with Arsenal and Olympique Lyon, had held meetings with Benzema’s entourage.

The meetings reportedly left Manchester United feeling confused due to Benzema’s commitments to Al-Ittihad beyond football.

The Frenchman apparently has agreements regarding social and religious concerns that would complicate any deal to move away from the Saudi league.

Regardless, the former Real Madrid captain’s wages are enough to put United off the move, with the five-time Champions League-winning striker reportedly earning £86million a year.

It has been reported by talkSPORT that United have since ruled out a move for Benzema.
