Darren Bent has claimed he would rather have Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz than out-of-form Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford.

Rashford, 25, has scored just twice for United so far this term after a staggering 30-goal campaign last season.

The winger has lacked conviction in front of goal and has looked lost in moments as he adjusts to playing alongside a more natural centre-forward in Rasmus Hojlund.

Whilst the no.10 has been one of the better players in supplying the Danish striker, the lack of a consistent left-back has often left him isolated on the flank. Luke Shaw has now returned to the side, though.

Now, Alejandro Garnacho is preferred on the left side after some promising performances. The Argentine has scored in consecutive games, including a Goal of the Season contender against Everton.

Darren Bent, who scored 106 Premier League goals, believes that Kai Havertz is a better option for Arsenal than Rashford would be despite his own poor season at The Emirates so far.

“Right now, for what Arteta wants to do, yes. Currently, where we are now, give me Havertz,” he told talkSPORT. “I don’t want Rashford at the minute. I don’t know what I’m getting from Rashford.

“Rashford has got two (goals)! For starters, he’s (Havertz) not appalling. This is not the lifetime achievement award. Last season, after the World Cup, Rashford was unbelievable. I’ve not seen that Rashford since. Right now, give me Kai Havertz over Rashford.”

Havertz scored a late winner for Arsenal against Brentford last week. Rashford was unavailable for United’s draw against Galatasaray through suspension but is back in contention for the team’s trip to Newcastle.
