Jean-Clair Todibo is one of the defenders that Manchester United are interested in signing in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign, which saw United lift the FA Cup in their final game, fans are now awaiting the much-anticipated transfer window.

The summer window will open on Friday 14 June and will close at 23:00 BST on Friday 30 August. There is much work to be done at Old Trafford in that time.

Following Raphaël Varane’s departure, the first point-of-call will be to strengthen the backline, especially considering Victor Lindelöf, Jonny Evans, and Harry Maguire also have uncertain futures.

Jarrad Branthwaite has been labelled as the priority target for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, although it is also expected that there will be another central defensive addition this summer, even if they sign the Everton defender.

Jean-Clair Todibo makes a lot of sense as a potential signing. United have previously held an interest in him; he fits the role of the right side of the central defensive partnership — United already have Lisandro Martínez on the left side — and he also plays for OGC Nice, the other club that INEOS owns.

A deal could very well be made, although Tottenham Hotspur is another club reported to be interested in the 24-year-old.

In a recent interview, Todibo refused to reveal his plans for the future, although he admitted that there had been ‘discussions’ when asked about those two Premier League clubs.

“Honestly, I don’t want to talk about [my future] because of my respect for the fans here and the club also. But we had a little discussion, for sure,” he told The Telegraph.

“My ambition is to play in the best competitions in the world and try to be the best version of myself. Try to be the best defender, for sure, that I can be.”
