Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old Gabriele Biancheri from Cardiff City as they continue to strengthen their youth system.

That information is according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, who reported that the young forward completed his medical over the weekend and will join United as a scholar, with a professional contract to be signed when he turns 17 in September.

The talented teenager will link up with his new club as soon as the deal is completed as it is classed as an international transfer, so there will be no need to wait until the summer.

But who is Gabriele Biancheri? All the details on the youth star have been explained below.

What position does Biancheri play?

Biancheri operates across the frontline as a versatile forward player who also can play as a number 10. He is a speedster with quick feet and the ability to shoot well from different angles.

What are Biancheri’s stats this season?

The youngster has impressed at under-16s level with his club scoring 17 goals in his first 11 matches of the season. He was then rewarded with a debut for Cardiff’s under-21s side against Wolves last month.

What nationality is Biancheri?

The new United signing is a Welsh citizen and has played three times for The Dragons at under-17 level. Still, he also is eligible to represent England or Italy at international level.

How did Manchester United scout Biancheri?

The teenager is relatively unknown on a larger scale, although Chelsea were vying for his signature in the summer but eventually lost out to United.

The Reds would’ve got valuable information on the young talent from development coach David Hughes, who was Cardiff’s academy manager for a year between July 2021 and July 2022.

When will Biancheri be in the Manchester United first team?

It’s highly unlikely that the young star is immediately introduced into the first-team squad as he will not sign a professional contract until the new season.

However, Erik ten Hag has shown that he will introduce young players who prove their ability when training with the squad. Kobbie Mainoo, 17, and Alejandro Garnacho, 18, have both had chances under the Dutchman this season.

The United manager is also closely aligned with the progress of the youth players at the club and regularly introduces different talents to first-team training, which will give the manager a chance to assess the progression of Biancheri after he joins the club.
