Erik ten Hag’s ‘next phase’ of his rebuild at Manchester United has been explained in latest reports.

The Dutch manager constantly cites the ‘process’ when discussing his future plans at Old Trafford and this summer will be important for the club as they look to build on the progress made already.

Further changes to the squad will be needed and reports from Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News explain that United are already preparing for the ‘next phase’ of their rebuild under Ten Hag.

He said that The Reds are finalising their list of players to sell in the summer transfer window as they plan their approach for the next phase of their squad rebuild.

United have already identified a number of players deemed sellable as they look to comply with UEFA’s new financial sustainability rules according to the report.

It was also mentioned that Ten Hag’s priority in the summer transfer window is bringing a striker into the club. But United are looking to raise funds for other new arrivals by selling fringe players in their squad.

It has previously been reported that United are looking at the likes of Harry Kane, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen to strengthen their goalscoring unit.

Another potential addition that the United manager is keen on is a younger midfielder to strengthen the depth in the engine room after the signings of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer, the aforementioned report added.

United began to shuffle their pack after letting numerous players leave the club on free transfers at the beginning of Ten Hag’s reign. Whilst that helped loosen their extraordinary wage budget, the Old Trafford club now looking to finally cash in on players is a positive sign.

The Reds are notorious for their poor ability to sell players. Hopefully this coming summer can show improvement in that department and help grow funds for incomings.

Adding a talented young midfielder to the midfield at United will be useful, whilst a top striker coming in is absolutely crucial and could help the club compete for the largest trophies in the coming years.
