FC Twente boss reveals his simple tactic that unravelled Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United
FC Twente manager Joseph Oosting explained the simple tactic he used to unravel Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United set-up at Old Trafford.
In their first Europa League match of the season, Manchester United, under Erik ten Hag, were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Twente, the club he supported in his youth.
Christian Eriksen opened the scoring with a brilliant goal in the first half, but a lapse in concentration allowed FC Twente to level the score with 20 minutes to go.

Despite the introduction of Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Højlund, United couldn’t find a winning goal, leading to a disappointing draw.
Following the game, Twente manager Joseph Oosting explained that he felt his side were only under pressure during the final moments and that his simple instruction of putting Unite under high pressure forced Ten Hag’s men into mistakes.
“All my men did well,” Oosting told reporters after the game. “The game plan was also good.
“You want to see certain things in defence and attack beforehand, and we did that very well. If you wait too much, they are skilled at football and create opportunities.
“If you put them under high pressure, you can also force them to make mistakes, and ultimately, that is also further away from the goal. Then, it’s about coordination and courage. Not just courage on the ball, but also courage in defence.
“After the break, we tried to jump with a back on the right, but if that doesn’t work, they’re gone so quickly. Tactically, we did well the entire match against Manchester United.
“Except maybe for the last 10 minutes when we were five down and four before that. We did a great job.”
