Erik ten Hag admits there are “some concerns” about Man United star, fans proven correct
Erik ten Hag has admitted that there are “some concerns” about one Manchester United star after the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United recorded their third Premier League defeat in six games, falling 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs struck early with a goal from Brennan Johnson and maintained consistent pressure on André Onana’s goal throughout the first half.
United’s troubles deepened just before halftime when Bruno Fernandes was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on James Maddison, leading to a drop in their performance.
Tottenham increased their lead shortly after the break, and despite United’s attempts to respond, Spurs wrapped up the victory with a third goal from Dominic Solanke with 15 minutes remaining.
Ten Hag admits Mainoo concern
Kobbie Mainoo came off shortly after Fernandes received the red card towards the end of the first half.
The youngster went straight down the tunnel and Erik ten Hag has admitted that there are “some concerns” about his potential injury.
“I can’t say in this moment,” Ten Hag told MUTV’ when asked about the injury. “I have to find out.
“But, of course, when a player is coming off before half-time already, then there are some concerns.
“Also, I have seen how Mason [Mount] came off. He was bleeding so it’s clear there are some problems there and we have to see how they recover in the coming days.”
Fans proven right
Despite the United boss seemingly trying to be careful with Mainoo in recent weeks, with the youngster being rested in two games, the demands from his current midfield setup are far too high.
After playing consistently for just under a year, Mainoo is playing in one of the most difficult midfield setups in the Premier League and the potential for injury has scared United fans in recent weeks and months.
Everyone will be hoping that the issue is nothing serious, otherwise there will be another problem added to the list at Old Trafford.
