Man United receive mixed injury updates for Carabao Cup clash vs Crystal Palace
Manchester United turn their attention to a third-round Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening.
The Reds ended a three-game loss streak on the weekend as they beat Burnley 1-0 and will be hoping to get back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
Despite victory at Turf Moor, Erik ten Hag will be hoping for an improved performance against Roy Hodgson’s side. Although changes are expected for the cup clash.
United already have a host of injury trouble at the moment and the Dutch boss will not want to take many risks. He will, however, still look to put out a strong team.
On the injury front, it appeared that Sergio Reguilón got a knock last time out after being substituted but Ten Hag explained that the Spaniard was unwell.
However, it is unlikely that he will not start on Tuesday despite a more important Premier League game against The Eagles coming on the weekend with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both still out of action.
Meanwhile, the fitness levels of Lisandro Martinez remain unknown. The Argentine missed out on the Burnley win with an injury but Ten Hag has not explained whether it was a precaution or not.
After missing the Bayern Munich and Burnley fixtures due to injury, Harry Maguire was spotted in training on Monday morning and may be ready to return to action. Kobbie Mainoo is back on the grass for United but is still not fit enough to return to the squad just yet.

On the other hand, there have been some positive injury updates. Raphaël Varane returned from injury on the weekend, playing in the last 20 minutes of the win, and could be in line to start on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s clash.
Sofyan Amrabat also appeared for his belated debut for the club after injury troubles. He could be in line for his first start for United and might need to fill in at left-back again if Reguilon is indeed rested for the game.
Mason Mount could also be involved on Tuesday. Ten Hag explained that the midfielder was ‘also coming back’ before the Burnley game, and Mount was spotted in full training on Monday morning.
Tom Heaton has also recently returned from injury, however, it’s expected that Altay Bayindir is given the opportunity to make his United debut against Palace, with Andrè Onana coming out of the team.
