Manchester United are fearing that Luke Shaw may be out of Erik ten Hag’s squad for longer than expected after his latest injury.

It was announced that Luke Shaw had suffered an injury after Manchester United‘s 2-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur, with the defender suffering a muscular problem.

However, it has since been reported that the injury to Erik ten Hag‘s starting left-back may be worse than initially thought.

According to the MEN, although the club claim that Shaw will be out for “a number of weeks”, they now fear that Shaw may in fact be out for a number of months.

Shaw may not be back in the squad until November, which spells serious trouble for Ten Hag’s squad selection as he is added to an already growing injury list.

Against Nottingham Forest, United were without Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Højlund, Mason Mount, Amad Diallo, and Tom Heaton, and although the side emerged with a 3-2 comeback victory, the lack of options was evident.

In reaction to the news, the club are targeting the market for left-back options, with Brentford’s Rico Henry, Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilón, Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso – all as loan options.

Chelsea would be happy to let Cucurella leave on loan under their terms, Alonso has no desire to leave Barcelona, and United have enquired with Brentford about the availability of Henry.
