According to fresh reports from Italy, one Serie A side are preparing an offer of around £30 million plus bonuses for one Manchester United player that Rúben Amorim could instantly profit from.
Manchester United have begun to plan their summer transfer window, which will be crucial after the worst season in United’s Premier League history.
While Rúben Amorim’s side have been awful in the league, they remain unbeaten in the Europa League, with just the final to play on Wednesday night against Tottenham Hotspur.
Several players have shone above the rest this season, with Bruno Fernandes picking up the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the 2024/25 season.
There was a lack of other real candidates, with most players underperforming and those who did play well suffering serious injuries while in good form.
While Amad would be considered the second-best in the team to most fans, Joshua Zirkzee’s performances were being hailed as “quality” by Fernandes before his injury against Newcastle United.
Inter planning move for Zirkzee
Just a few days ago, reports from Italy revealed that Inter Milan were interested in Zirkzee, potentially eyeing a loan with an option to buy in the summer.
The Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, has now revealed that the club is building a loan-to-buy offer for the Dutchman, worth just under £30 million plus bonuses that could take his fee to over the £36 million United forked out last summer. This would allow Amorim to make an instant profit on the Dutchman’s transfer.
Further, Corriere dello Sport suggest that the deal would transition into an obligation to buy if certain conditions were met, but they have not been decided yet.
Reports state that Zirkzee won’t have to take a wage cut to join Inter on loan, as the Italian club would be willing to match the salary he currently receives at Old Trafford.
While this wouldn’t bring any money this summer, removing Zirkzee’s wage could allow United to target a move for two strikers, with Liam Delap’s move already appearing to be near completion.
Zirkzee’s pre-injury form can’t be forgotten
Before Zirkzee’s injury at Newcastle, he was one of the standout players in a poor United side, despite playing second fiddle to Rasmus Højlund.
The former Bolonga attacker played as the centre forward and behind as one of the two attacking midfielders, impressing in both positions despite the rest of the team’s form.
Zirkzee should be kept for at least one more season, especially if there isn’t a permanent offer, as a loan move would not raise the funds to replace him immediately.
The 2025 summer transfer window will be crucial to Amorim’s future at United, so he needs to be given complete license to keep and sell who he wants, or he will be another manager who didn’t receive the support from the club that he deserves.
