Chelsea could offer Manchester United a wildcard option in a swap deal for Jadon Sancho instead of Ben Chilwell or Raheem Sterling.

Jadon Sancho has been left out of Manchester United’s squad for their opening two Premier League games of the season.

The 24-year-old was on loan at Borussia Dortmund for the second half of last season after a dispute with manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag left him out of a matchday squad against Arsenal at the beginning of the campaign, citing poor training performances—a claim Sancho publicly contested. This led to his removal from the squad and a six-month loan to the Bundesliga.

Despite reconciling with Ten Hag during pre-season and rejoining the squad, including participating in the pre-season tour and coming off the bench in the Community Shield, Sancho remains on the transfer list.

Various reports on the weekend claimed that Chelsea are interesting in signing the 24-year-old winger and would be open to including a player in a swap deal.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that The Blues would be prepared to offer Ben Chilwell or Raheem Sterling in a deal for Sancho.

However, they are both players who carry significant risk. Sterling has looked extremely poor since his move to Stamford Bridge, while Chilwell would join the list of injury-prone left-backs at United.

Another potential option for a swap deal could be a midfield player, as Get Italian Football News reported, and one wildcard option could convince United of an agreement.

Carney Chukwuemeka is a midfield player who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022. He was extremely highly rated at that time, but injuries have played a major role in his stunted development so far.

It has been well reported that Chelsea want the young midfielder to leave the club as they look to streamline their squad before the transfer deadline.

Chukwuemeka is still only 20 years of age, though, and could add important depth to a crucial position at Old Trafford.

The potential upside, with the player once being touted as one of the best talents in the country, is also much more attractive than either Chilwell or Sterling, who both have too many concerns to make a deal without the desired £40 million worthwhile.
