Carlos Baleba’s stance on Manchester United move revealed as Ruben Amorim wants Brighton midfielder

Manchester United are interested in making a statement signing for the exciting Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba this summer although a deal may be difficult.

Manchester United started the summer window strongly by securing the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves on the opening day. Young defender Diego Leon has also joined.

After lengthy negotiations, the Reds eventually added Bryan Mbeumo to the squad too, with all three players on the tour of the United States with Ruben Amorim’s side.

Now, it looks like a deal for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is going to get over the line to complete the new-look attack at Old Trafford.

United remain interested in signing a midfielder in the final weeks of the window and it has emerged that the club have made contact with Brighton star Carlos Baleba over a potential deal.

Baleba’s stance on United move revealed

Various reports on Wednesday evening, including from Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein, claimed that United have made contact with Brighton over a potential deal.

Reports from French outlet Lequipe have claimed that Amorim sees the 21-year-old as a key part of his long-term project in Manchester.

The Seagulls are not planning to sell Baleba and any deal would likely require United to finally make some significant sales before the end of the window.

Interestingly, the reporter who broke the story, Indykaila, has stated that Baleba is eager to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford.

The midfielder plays at international level alongside United duo André Onana and Mbeumo for Cameroon and was teammates with Leny Yoro at Lille.

United aren’t close to a deal for Baleba yet

Many United fans have been desperate for the club to make a move for a midfielder and Baleba is the most sought-after talent in that position right now.

He has the Premier League experience that Amorim wants and his physical attributes would be perfect for the defensive midfield role at Old Trafford.

Despite United’s interest being genuine, this is not a deal which is close and a lot of things would need to go United’s way in order for an agreement to happen.

Those include finally making some sales, with Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho still available for transfer.
