Bruno Fernandes sums up Man United problem with alarming comment after Bournemouth loss
Bruno Fernandes has suggested that the Manchester United squad were expecting their clash against Bournemouth to be ‘easy’ following their 3-0 defeat.
The Reds were embarrassed at Old Trafford just days after victory against Chelsea provided some hope that Erik ten Hag’s side would turn a corner.
An early opener from the visitors never looked like being equalised from United, who managed to register only three shots on target, and then The Cherries punished the poor United with two goals in quick succession in the second half.
“We lacked many things and that’s why we don’t get the result today,” Bruno Fernandes explained after the game.
The midfielder then admitted that some within the United squad may have been expecting an easier game against the opposition, saying: “Everything was lower than the levels in the game before and that’s why when you play teams like Bournemouth, who are really aggressive and on the front foot, they press you, and you think it’s going to be easy, you get these kinds of results.
“Everything was underperforming. Creativity, movement and arriving with bodies into the box. Most of the time we arrived with one or two players, but in the last game we had more getting in the box to score a goal.
“Today, it was, as I said, underperforming. We just lack consistency and that’s a big part of football. It’s really important to be consistent every game, and we’re not being.”
Fernandes will miss out on United’s next Premier League game against Liverpool after getting a silly yellow card towards the end of the game on Saturday.

Before that visit to Anfield, Ten Hag’s side will host Bayern Munich in their final Champions League group game.
