Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic sent a dig Manchester United’s way last week before Jadon Sancho was unable to play in their Bundesliga clash against Heidenheim.

Sancho, 23, moved back to Dortmund last month in the January transfer window and managed an assist on his second debut for the German club.

However, the winger was unavailable for their latest game against Heidenheim, which ended in a 0-0 draw. Sancho has a ‘minor’ muscular problem which kept him out of training ahead of the match.

Terzic, who also coached Sancho before his big-money move to Manchester United in the summer of 2021, explained that the injury setback is ‘not surprising’ after he was exiled from United’s squad for the most part of the season.

Sancho was unavailable for selection between the start of September and his loan move after a public spat with Erik ten Hag.

“He has not been able to train with the team on both of the last two days because he has felt minor muscular problems in his adductor region, which is not surprising after his long break,” Terzic told Dortmund media last week.

“We will not take any major risks and will decide in the coming days whether he comes with us to Heidenheim.”

Sancho’s lack of match fitness has shown, and Terzic seems to blame his parent club for the difficulties.

Their next game comes on Friday evening against SC Freiburg, and it’s not yet confirmed whether Sancho will be back for the game.
