Alejandro Garnacho reveals specific tactic he and Marcus Rashford ‘trained’ for against Brentford
Alejandro Garnacho has revealed a specific tactic he and Marcus Rashford had been working on this week following Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Brentford.
Manchester United grabbed all three points as Erik ten Hag‘s men came from behind to defeat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
After Ethan Pinnock headed in a corner to put the visitors 1-0 up just before the half-time whistle blew, goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Højlund, combined with spectacular assists from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, turned the tie around.

Beyond the creators and scorers, Matthijs de Ligt put in another fantastic performance at centre-back, which was exacerbated by the fact he had blood running down his face after a clash in the first half.
The result moves United back up to the top half of the league table as they look to rescue their horrid start to the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Garnacho reveals goal practice
Garnacho’s finish against Brentford was a particularly special effort. A fantastic cross from Rashford, situated on the right wing, found Garnacho with perfect precision, who volleyed home the first time to restore the lead.
Speaking to MUTV after the game, Garnacho revealed that the pair had been practising this move in training ahead of the fixture.
“I know Rashford,” the 20-year-old explained. “We worked on that in training this week. I know he’s a good crosser, so I had to be ready at the far post. When he crossed, I knew I had to take it first time…”
He continued: “We are very happy, but I also think that we played a good performance in the first half.
“We were 1-0 down but I think we played, in general, a very good game. After the first half we were very angry because we played with 10 men for a little bit of the time, but with a good mentality we came back in the game.
“I missed two big chances in the first half, but I came to the second one with the same mentality: try to score and win the game. Finally, I could do it. Also, Rasmus, I am happy for him.”
Fastest goal in years
Scored 89 seconds into the second half, Garnacho’s equaliser was United’s quickest goal after half-time in the Premier League since a fixture against Tottenham in October 2022, where Fred scored after just 76 seconds.
It was also his 20th goal for the club, marking a significant milestone for the young forward.
Next, United will face Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in Istanbul before a trip to London to play West Ham.
