Player Ratings: Manchester United 2-1 Brentford (Premier League)
Manchester United won 2-1 against Brentford in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford after going behind in the first-half.
United started the game slowly and were fortunate that Brentford did not extend their early scoring run when a cross was close to finding Kevin Schade.
Erik ten Hag’s side improved throughout the half but were unable to deliver the finishing touch to score a goal, with Alejandro Garnacho coming closest.
A controversial goal was conceded when the officials forced Matthijs de Ligt to leave the pitch before a defensive corner which Brentford scored seconds before the half-time whistle.
However, United responded excellently in the second half, with Garnacho scoring early on before Rasmus Højlund secured all three points with a smart finish.
The United player ratings can be read below.
Man Utd player ratings vs Brentford
André Onana – 7/10
One brilliant save from a long-range effort. Not a lot of other tests.
Diogo Dalot – 7/10
A decent first-half and better in the second half. Maybe should have scored as well.
Matthijs de Ligt – 7.5/10
Came back on the pitch after a heavy head collision 10 minutes in. He was extremely frustrated to be forced off the pitch by the referee when Brentford scored – but delivered a solid display.
Jonny Evans – 7.5/10
A strong performance at the back from the veteran.
Lisandro Martínez – 6/10
Some struggles out on the left-back at points in the first-half. More comfortable after half-time.
Casemiro – 6.5/10
Some good moments in the middle and a big defensive tackle. A bit inconsistent with his passes and shooting though.
Christian Eriksen – 7/10
Missed an absolute sitter, although a foul was given just before. A decent performance otherwise.
Marcus Rashford – 9/10
Excellent all game. Some very good passes and crosses, including the assist for Garnacho. Also very solid defensively.
Bruno Fernandes – 7/10
He was roaming around throughout, making some nice passes, and provided a special assist for Højlund.
Alejandro Garnacho – 8.5/10
Constantly testing his fullback. It didn’t always come off but he persevered and got a deserved goal.
Rasmus Højlund – 8/10
A decent first-half, much better in the second half. Brilliant hold-up play and provided a great finish to score the second.
