Alejandro Garncaho featured in the second half for Argentina as they defeated El Salvador 3-0 in a friendly fixture on Friday evening.

Alejandro Garnacho has been fantastic for Manchester United this season, becoming a key part of Erik ten Hag‘s attacking trio, recently excelling on the right-hand side following Antony‘s poor form.

He has become both a creating and goalscoring threat, scoring seven goals and assisting another four across all competitions, forming a high-quality relationship with both Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund up front.

Having established himself at Old Trafford, Garnacho’s next steps will be to try and break into Argentina’s starting XI. He has been included in the past few teams and even earned his first call-up before breaking into the Old Trafford side, but he is still behind in the pecking order.

Against El Salvador, Garnacho was named as a substitute by manager Lionel Scaloni but was awarded 45 minutes of play in the second half as he replaced Nico González. Strangely and rather inexplicably, some Argentina fans were not happy with the move.

Replying to the X post above from AlbicelesteTalk, an account that covers everything in relation to Argentinian football, one fan wrote: “Why would they let the flop in?”

“Who invited him? We don’t need mid players here,” another said, while a third claimed: “Garnacho is the Most overrated & overhyped kid.. Nothing special.”

Garnacho, in his usual fashion, shut the doubters up as he put on a brilliant second-half performance. In the 45 minutes he had, the 19-year-old had 37 touches, completing 26 of his 29 attempted passes while also having 11 touches in El Salvador’s penalty box and creating two chances.

He has gone from strength to strength this season, with some fans recognising his talent. “Time for proper football,” one fan said, while another said: “Lets keep (it) that way permanently plz.”

Erik ten Hag and United fans will be happy to see that Garnacho is performing well for his country as well as his club, and it feels only a matter of time before he becomes one of the most feared wingers in the Premier League and on the international stage.
