47 passes, 2 chances created: Man Utd star has made incredible impression on Ruben Amorim after PAOK display
One Manchester United star has made an incredible impression on Ruben Amorim after his display against PAOK in the Europa League.
Manchester United claimed a 2-0 win against Greek club PAOK in their Europa League match on Thursday night.
Though the team struggled in the first half, Amad Diallo stepped up to score twice, giving United their first European victory in over a year.
While the performance was generally unconvincing, a few individual displays, particularly from Amad, were bright spots.
With Ruben Amorim set to take over at Old Trafford next week, he’ll be well aware of the considerable work ahead with the squad.
Casemiro continues to impress
Casemiro was another player who impressed against PAOK, with the Brazilian midfielder continuing his solid form this season.
The midfielder played 90 minutes, completed 47 of his 58 attempted passes and created two chances. He was also solid out of possession, with seven defensive actions, six recoveries and six duels won.
It seemed like Casemiro would lose his place in the team permanently after his performance against Liverpool earlier this season but he has bounced back very well.
After scoring twice in the win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup last week he also had a hand in creating the penalty against Chelsea on the weekend.
Ruben Amorim will be impressed
Ruben Amorim will certainly do some tinkering to figure out his best team at Old Trafford but Casemiro will definitely be making a positive impression on the head coach.
While the 39-year-old has previously worked with Manuel Ugarte and knows how to get the best out of him, there is no question that Casemiro looks more prepared to man the midfield under Amorim in the Premier League.
Of course, things can change and form won’t mean everything to the new manager. There will be a clean slate but it is clear that Casemiro is doing all he can to secure a starting spot against Ipswich Town.
