“Yes, 100%…” – Andy Cole thinks Man United have obvious January transfer target

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole believes that there is a clear transfer target for Erik ten Hag ahead of the January transfer window.

United have struggled this season in many areas, particularly in front of goal.

In the Premier League, Marcus Rashford is the only attacking player who has scored, and the English winger has only netted once.

Rasmus Hojlund has looked promising and has five Champions League goals but is yet to break his Premier League duck in his first nine appearances in the competition.

The 20-year-old has not received great service in front of goal and is not able to consistently create chances for himself as the centre-forward.

Cole, who won The Treble at Old Trafford in 1999, believes that United should not be relying on Hojlund and that signing a centre-forward to support the no.11 is crucial.

“Yes, 100%,” replied Cole when asked by BetFred whether his former club should sign another striker. “Manchester United should never be in a position where they’re depending on a 20-year-old centre-forward.

“Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have established forwards in their respective squads and they have young strikers who can come in and learn from them. Højlund’s come to Manchester United and doesn’t have anybody to learn from.

“What does he know about the Premier League? He hasn’t scored in his first nine league games and if you haven’t scored during that period, then you’re going to be asking yourself questions, for sure.

“I don’t believe he should be in that position because he’s learning the game.”

United are reportedly looking at bringing in a more experienced striker in January to help their young centre-forward.
