Who is Wolves vs Manchester United referee? Premier League confirm 49-yellow card official
The Premier League have confirmed who will officiate Manchester United’s Boxing Day clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers as both clubs fight at the bottom half of the table.
Rúben Amorim is looking for a solution as Manchester United’s struggles deepened with two defeats last week.
United’s high after a memorable victory over Manchester City was short-lived, as they suffered a dramatic 4-3 Carabao Cup exit to Tottenham before enduring a 3-0 drubbing at Old Trafford against Bournemouth.
The setbacks have left United in 13th place, their lowest position at Christmas since the Premier League‘s inception.
They face a tricky Boxing Day fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux. Wolves, currently 18th, have been buoyed by the arrival of Vítor Pereira, who started his tenure with an emphatic 3-0 win over Leicester City.
Confirmed officials
Tony Harrington (pictured below) will be the referee on Thursday evening in Wolverhampton. Harrington has officiated nine Premier League matches this season, two in the Championship and one in the Carabao Cup.
Harrington has not met United this season but officiated them twice last campaign in a 1-0 win with Burnley and a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, both away from home.
So far this season, Harrington has issued 32 yellow cards in the Premier League and 49 across all competitions. He has issued two red cards and three penalties in the league.
During the game, Darren Cann and Marc Perry will serve as Harrington’s assistant referees. Andrew Kitchen will be the fourth official on Sunday afternoon, separating Amorim and Vítor Pereira.
Matt Donohue has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee. Nick Hopton will act as assistant VAR.
