“Without him…” Manchester United would have been much worse without one star, says Rio Ferdinand
Rio Ferdinand has explained that Manchester United’s loss against Tottenham Hotspur would have been even worse without one star under Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United suffered their third Premier League defeat of the season, losing 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.
The match began with Spurs taking an early lead through a goal from Brennan Johnson, maintaining consistent pressure on André Onana‘s goal throughout the first half.

Things took a dramatic turn just before halftime when Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a reckless challenge on James Maddison, leading to a breakdown in United’s performance.
In the second half, Tottenham quickly extended their lead, and despite United’s attempts to regain control, they conceded a third goal to Dominic Solanke with 15 minutes remaining, sealing the defeat.
While the media have thoroughly blasted United and their players due to their performance, former United centre-back Rio Ferdinand took the time to praise one of the club’s stars.
Ferdinand explained after the game that the score could have been even worse if it hadn’t been for goalkeeper Onana, who saved seven shots on Sunday evening.
“Do you know how I’ve got to give a shout-out to? He took a lot of stick last season – Onana,” Ferdinand explained during his latest Rio Reacts episode.
Without him, it’s six or seven today. Onana has been good this season. He’s stepped up, and he’s made some big saves.
“Yes, there’s been the odd thing here and there, but he’s been what you’d want to see. What I expected to see from Onana is what I’m seeing this season.
“He’s the only one today who comes out of the game with any sort of credit – any sort of positivity. He can walk with his head high.”
