Wes Brown explains why one Manchester United player was crucial in Brentford turnaround
Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has explained why one player was crucial in the turnaround against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
United got off to a slow start in the game and were lucky that Brentford didn’t take an early lead when a cross nearly connected with Kevin Schade.
Erik ten Hag‘s team grew into the game as the first half progressed but couldn’t find the finishing touch, with Alejandro Garnacho coming the closest to scoring.
The match saw controversy when officials made Matthijs de Ligt leave the field right before a defensive corner, leading to Brentford scoring just before half-time.

However, United came out strong in the second half, with Garnacho quickly equalising, followed by Rasmus Højlund securing the win with a well-taken goal.
Wes Brown speaks on Garnacho impact
Wes Brown was complimentary of the second-half performance from Ten Hag’s side at Old Trafford.
The ex-defender suggested that improvements came after Garnacho scored the equaliser early in the second half and said that it was a “matter of time” until the second came.
“Some good play, some good energy, and it was three points that we really needed,” began Brown while speaking on MUTV.
“From Garnacho getting that goal, you could see we were really in the game and it was only a matter of time until we scored the second goal.
“When he gets that ball in certain positions, he only has one thing in his mind and it came off today. He’s willing to work hard.”
It was an important three points for United and Ten Hag and they will hope to take confidence from that going into their coming fixtures.
