“We understand…” Jason Wilcox reveals Rúben Amorim’s immediate reaction to Manchester United’s new training facility

Manchester United have officially opened their new training complex after Carrington underwent a long transformation to create a world-class performance environment.

When Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchased a stake in Manchester United, he quickly made a decision to invest in Carrington, the United training centre, to create a “world-class performance environment.”

Cristiano Ronaldo made it clear that Carrington hadn’t evolved enough in between his two stints as a United player, despite the club changing managers five times while the legendary No.7 had been away.

Redeveloping the training centre could enable Rúben Amorim to compete at a higher standard, as improved facilities often lead to an enhanced player lifestyle and, consequently, improved performances on the pitch.

The men’s first team, women’s senior side, and men’s academy have been brought together to create a space where the whole team can integrate, fostering a better atmosphere at the club after several years of struggle.

Wilcox reveals Amorim’s feelings over new Carrington

In United’s announcement video, Jason Wilcox revealed how Amorim feels about the new training complex, as he prepares for United’s last pre-season fixture against David de Gea’s Fiorentina.

“Ruben is over the moon with it,” said the Red Devils’ Director of Football. “Both Ruben and I have played before, and we understand that facilities are only one part of it [the training centre].

“It’s the environment, it’s the culture, and it’s the feel you get with the players, the camaraderie, the noise that you hear at lunch, at breakfast, these are the things that gives you a good sign.”

United’s announcement video shows the training complex in its entirety, from the media spaces to the changing rooms, and even the office spaces. The club have ensured that everyone connected to the United has a space to work, alongside the first-team to create a family environment.

“This building now serves as the innovative heart of a new Carrington.”

“Feeling like a family and performing like a team”

“Feeling like a family and performing like a team,” words uttered by Wilcox in United’s announcement video. They give an insight into how the club will operate going forward, as they want everyone to unite together to fight for the badge.

It’s no secret that United aren’t where they want to be, finishing 15th in the Premier League last season. They have endured years of poor performances, which have created a toxic environment at the club.

However, United are showing an effort to finally bring everyone together, getting behind the manager so the club can return to the top of the league, fighting for the title every season, instead of the borderline mediocrity that has befallen the club in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
