Wayne Rooney’s son, Kai, has made a prediction for Manchester United’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.

Kai Rooney plays in United’s under-14s side and is highly rated within the academy setup. The teenager scored 56 goals and provided 28 assists in the 2021/22 season.

With the senior side travelling to north London to face Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs, Rooney is expecting Erik ten Hag’s side to secure the three points.

Despite an opening game victory against Wolves, it was a poor overall performance from The Reds and they have been working hard behind the scenes at the Carrington training complex to put things right.

“Obviously Man United played quite poor against Wolves and I know they’ve been doing some extra work,” said Kai Rooney, talking on the Thogden YouTube channel.

It was a somewhat similar situation at the beginning of last term where United lost their two opening games and were hard-worked in training ahead of their 2-1 win against Liverpool.

Of course, this time around, the Dutch boss would be purely unhappy with the performance rather than the result as well.

The young Rooney went onto mention his score prediction for the encounter and that Marcus Rashford would score the goal to earn his team all three points.

“Obviously Ten Hag quite not happy with them,” he added. “So I feel like they’re going to bounce back and get a 2-1 win – Rashford with the winner.”

Speaking on a separate occasion to SY Football, Kai Rooney has stated his intention to rise to the top of the sport like his father did at Manchester United.

“In ten years hopefully I will be playing in the Premier League for Man United, that’s where I see myself but I’ve got to make it happen with the hard work and everything behind the scenes,” he said.

“My dad helped me through some of the hard times and taught me a lot about the game,” he added when asked who his hero is. “Even just being in the car listening to him as a manager talking to all the players.”
