“Wasted” Manchester United star ‘unbothered’ that he is yet to secure summer move as latest deal stalls

One of Manchester United’s outcasts still remains at the club despite interest from European sides, but the player seems unfazed as the transfer window closure looms near.

Jadon Sancho is a player with divided opinions at Manchester United, having only played 83 times for the club in four seasons, Sancho has become an outlier in the Reds’ future squad plans.

Manager Ruben Amorim looks to move Sancho on in order to raise funds for a potential defensive midfielder and goalkeeper, as the 25-year-old is deemed surplus to requirements.

The Englishman signed for United in 2021 under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, for an extortionate £73 million, and has played under six different managers since then.

Now at a pivotal point in his career, Sancho is attracting interest from all around Europe and looks to be heading out the door soon.

Sancho and his camp have taken a relaxed approach to this window, not forcing a move despite pressure from Utd to sell the player.

Sancho’s Juventus deal stalling

Sancho, whose talent is reportedly being “wasted” at United, according to ex-striker Louis Saha, has been heavily linked with Italian giants Juventus this summer. The player is open to playing in Turin as he looks to advance his career.

As the winger currently earns £350k per week in Manchester, there is no rush for Sancho, who remains under contract for another year.

Knowing the club is contracted to pay his salary, GiveMeSport report that the player is unstressed heading towards the transfer window closure on 1 September, seemingly unbothered by the prospect of a lack of playing time.

Juventus hopes to raise funds by selling Nico Gonzales before submitting a formal bid, a player they feel could be upgraded on by the arrival of Sancho, but the move has stalled.

Reported interest from Borussia Dortmund is now on the table, a club the winger has found joy at previously.

Sancho returned to Dortmund on loan in the winter transfer window of the 2023/24 season, as he led them to a Champions League final. Re-joining them is an opportunity that Sancho will consider.

Sancho in no rush to leave United

With three new signings already through the door this window, Amorim has an abundance of assets wasting away on the bench, as they are left out of the 2025/26 squad plans.

Sancho is no exception; he has not been actively seeking an exit from the club, and his camp is instead waiting for the right opportunity to arrive.

Despite interest from Chelsea earlier in the window, the club cited Sancho’s wages as the reason for their negotiations, as the Englishman was demanding double the wages of Cole Palmer and Marc Cucurella, the North London club’s star players.

With the 25-year-old being out of contract in a year, Sancho remains adamant on taking his time on a potential exit from the club.

No matter who Sancho plays for after his United exit, he will have had an underwhelming career in Manchester.
