Tyler Dibling to Manchester United transfer latest amid “almost certain” update
Manchester United have been regularly linked with Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling over the last few months.
Manchester United are not the only club having a dreadful Premier League campaign, with Southampton set to become one of the worst teams in the competition’s history.
Currently rock bottom of the table, The Saints only have nine points after 29 games and are set to be relegated back down to the Championship.
However, despite their struggles, Tyler Dibling has emerged as one of the most exciting young prospects in England’s top flight and United are reportedly interested in signing him.
Dibling has made 30 appearances so far this season, with four goals and two assists in that time. He was extremely impressive in United’s 3-2 win over Southampton earlier this term.
Dibling to United transfer latest
According to a fresh report from GiveMeSport, the Reds have now opened talks with Southampton about the potential summer signing of Dibling.
It was claimed that United already have a clear avenue of communication open with Southampton over a potential deal for the teenager.
Jason Wilcox will be leading United’s recruitment this summer and he previously worked as the director of football at St Mary’s Stadium.
United are said to only pursue a move for Dibling if the financials make sense. It has previously been suggested that he could cost around £30 million.
Finally, the report stated that Dibling is “almost certain” to be leaving the Saints in the summer window, with the youngster open to a new challenge rather than a season in the Championship next term.
Wilcox rates Dibling highly
It is no surprise that United are interested in Dibling as he ticks all of the boxes of the club’s new recruitment approach, which is focused on youth.
But it is also the fact that Wilcox previously worked closely with the teenager at Southampton which may convince the Reds to move for his signature in the summer.
The United technical director rates Dibling extremely highly and was even trying to convince ex-Saints boss Russell Martin to promote him to the first-team earlier than he did.
“Jason Wilcox was pushing for us to play him more last season, but he wasn’t quite ready,” Martin said earlier this term.
“It’s been beautiful to watch Tyler’s journey so far and he needs to keep going.”
