Manchester United will be embarking on their 2024 FA Cup journey as they travel to face Wigan Athletic on Monday evening.

Last season, Manchester United‘s FA Cup exploits ended on a sour note as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Manchester City in the competition’s final at Wembley Stadium.

An early goal from Ilkay Gündoğan was met with a Bruno Fernandes penalty in the first half, but a further goal from the German in the second half secured victory for the Blues over Erik ten Hag‘s men.

This time out, Ten Hag will be hoping his side go a step further to win it all in a season where the club have already been knocked out of two competitions in the Carabao Cup and Champions League.

In terms of team news, Ten Hag explained that he believes he will have the same squad that faced Nottingham Forest in December – the Wigan tie represents the first game of 2024 for United.
