Erik ten Hag provides Jadon Sancho update as Sir Jim Ratcliffe makes fresh statement
Erik ten Hag was asked about Jadon Sancho’s soon-to-be loan move to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester United before Sir Jim Ratcliffe addressed club staff.
Sancho, 23, has been exiled from the first-team squad at United for over four months and has not played a game of football since his social media statement claiming that Ten Hag was ‘scapegoating’ him.
Ten Hag was open to reintegrating Sancho into the first-team squad if he apologised, but that created an impasse after nothing came from the player.
Now, with the January transfer window finally here, the United winger is aiming to leave the club on loan and former club Borussia Dortmund are set to be the ones to take their ex-star for six months.
Sancho is set to join up with Dortmund’s training camp in Marbella soon, and so confirmation of a deal appears imminent.
When asked about the deal by journalists, Ten Hag remained coy. “I can’t say anything about this,” he began. “We have to wait and see how things are going. When we have news, of course, we will tell you.”
Then queried on whether a loan move suggests the winger still has a future at Old Trafford, a similar response was given. “So, as I say, I can’t say anything about this subject because there is no news,” added Ten Hag.
Meanwhile, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has addressed club staff and stated that he is not concerned about making money from his 25 per cent stake in the club and wants to focus on sporting success and having Manchester United return to winning the biggest honours.
According to The Athletic, the British billionaire did not pull any punches when speaking about the state of the club since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, which is something that was appreciated and welcomed by employees who were told last year by ex-CEO Richard Arnold that United were “closing in” on Manchester City.
