Anthony Martial is still in discussions with Manchester United surrounding his current contract, as the club confirm three contract extensions.

Manchester United confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Victor Lindelöf, Hannibal Mejbri, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all had their contracts extended by one year after they entered the final six months of their deals.

The players would have been able to discuss and sign pre-contract agreements with other clubs from 1 January and leave Old Trafford for free. However, this is no longer possible due to the extensions.

Anthony Martial and Raphaël Varane, however, have not had their current deals extended, with rumours flying surrounding their futures.

A report from The Athletic suggested that United have no intention to extend Martial’s deal and are willing to let him leave for free in the summer; however, Erik ten Hag has denied this.

Speaking ahead of the club’s FA Cup tie against Wigan Athletic, the manager confirmed that the club are still, in fact, in talks with Martial, as well as with Varane.

“We are talking with Rapha Varane and with Anthony Martial,” the boss said at his press conference on Thursday. “And we have triggered the options on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal.”

When pressed further on the situations of the players, he replied: “I think that is an internal discussion between the club and the player.”
