There are three players that Manchester United could feasibly agree transfers for before the 2024 summer transfer window opens.
Manchester United are looking to sign a fresh new batch of talent across Rúben Amorim’s opening transfer window at the helm of the squad.
It has been well established that the head coach would like to bring in new firepower in attack. The club are looking to sign multiple new forwards, a new starting midfielder, and reinforcements across the defensive line.
United have scored just 39 goals in 34 Premier League fixtures this campaign, proving to be a much more proficient side in the Europa League.
The club are sitting well into the bottom half of the league table with a negative goal difference, but they are hoping to raise well over £100 million from sales this summer to generate the necessary funds to facilitate the influx of new players.
According to the Daily Mail, United are aiming to get some signings agreed before the transfer window even opens on 1 June, and below, we have detailed three players United could realistically agree deals for before the beginning of next month.
#1 – Matheus Cunha
Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha will likely be United’s first signing of the summer, with the player a perfect fit for the left flank in Amorim’s team.
The 25-year-old Brazilian international is very close to joining United, with all reports indicating that only the final details of his move need to be ironed out.
Personal terms will not be an issue for the player, and United are aiming to sort out a payment structure with Wolves to ensure they can pay off his £62.5 million release clause in instalments rather than up front. The aim is for Cunha to join the club as soon as the 1 June window opens.
#2 – Liam Delap
With Cunha being United’s first-choice signing for the left forward position, United are also said to be keen on bringing in Ipswich Town star Liam Delap as their top target for the striker position.
It has been detailed that Delap is waiting to see which of his suitors are playing European football next season, as that is a priority for him. With United only set to play in the Champions League if they win the Europa League, a decision on whether Delap will sign at Old Trafford cannot be made until the outcome of the competition is decided.
However, should United secure European football next season, the club have no quarrels with activating his £30 million release clause as soon as possible. Delap’s move is not expected to be a drawn-out process, meaning United could well have the deal wrapped up before the window opens.
#3 – Jonathan Tah
United could look to secure a third signing before the end of this month: Johnathan Tah, the Bayer Leverkusen centre-back who has been closely linked with United in the last few days.
Reports from Sky Germany indicate that the German defender is very much on United’s radar, and the club have held talks with his representatives. United are said to be keen on signing the free agent.
As Tah’s contract expires soon, he can sign pre-contract agreements with any club he chooses. Although United are not the only side in for him, his status as a Bosman player means a deal could be wrapped up much faster than if they had to negotiate a transfer fee.
