The Manchester United squad are back at Carrington this week ahead of their pre-season tour to the United States, and three things were noticed.

Erik ten Hag’s men came out as 2-0 winners against Scottish side Rangers on the weekend and travelled back to Manchester in order to prepare for their second visit to America in as many years.

The United manager is expected to name his pre-season tour squad on Wednesday, with Ethan Ennis being one of the young academy stars expected to be included on the plane.

Club media uploaded training images on Tuesday, ahead of the trip, and UtdDistrict have highlighted three interesting things from the selection.

Leny Yoro getting used to the squad

Leny Yoro returned to Carrington and can finally start getting used to the squad and his new teammates.

The defender only trained once before his unofficial debut against Rangers and was pictured working hard on the training pitch ahead of the US tour.

He has already detailed the close relationship he has with Kobbie Mainoo, although the England international is not expected to join the team on tour.

Players return from injury

Importantly, six players have returned to team training after either being left out of the squad against Rangers with small injuries or having remained on an individual programme.

Antony, Victor Lindelof, Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay were all pictured in the training session on Tuesday.

Four of those players have yet to appear for Ten Hag’s side during pre-season so far, and they will be hoping to reach match fitness while in the States.

Højlund and Eriksen return, with a hint…

We have also seen two more internationals return from their holidays after participation at Euro 2024. Scott McTominay was the first to come back to Carrington last week.

Now, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Højlund have returned after reaching the round of 16 with Denmark this summer.

Interestingly, Højlund was pictured in training gear with his current no.11 shirt. Joshua Zirkzee suggested that he would take whichever number (between no.11 and no.9) that Højlund did not want.

This could suggest that Zirkzee will be taking the no.9 when he meets up with the squad in the United States.
