Leny Yoro reveals surprise friendship with Manchester United teammate, fans will love it
Leny Yoro has explained his surprise friendship with one Manchester United teammate that will help him to settle into the club.
Yoro, 18, played his first game for United during the 2-0 friendly win over Rangers on Saturday evening.
His move from Lille was announced on the Thursday beforehand, with the French defender having one training session before lining up against the Scottish outfit.
The 18-year-old centre-back was one of the standout performers for Erik ten Hag’s side and looked immediately comfortable among his new teammates.
Yet, building relationships with the players within the squad will be important for Yoro and it seems like he has already done so.
United currently have several other young talents in the first-team squad, and Yoro was asked about the prospect of that helping him during his first interview since joining.
The defender agreed and also explained that he has already started to build a close bond with Kobbie Mainoo off the pitch.
“Yeah, I think this will help me a lot because when there are young players, it’s more easy for you to adapt to the country and the team.
“I’m really close to Kobbie, so this will help me a lot. He sent me a message, he’s a really good guy and I’m really excited to see him on the pitch.”
Of course, Mainoo is perhaps United’s most talented player, but Yoro might challenge him for that tag, considering his abilities at the back.
Thankfully, they both play for United and the fans will be delighted to see that they’re already building a relationship.
Mainoo often played on the right side of the midfield pivot last term and will be directly ahead of Yoro when he starts at right centre-back.
“The pre-season will be really important for me to adapt to the group and create some links,” added Yoro.
Mainoo, however, is not expected to return to action until the Community Shield against Manchester City next month at Wembley.
